Have you ever wondered why your pinterest-inspired looks don't earn as much as the effort you put into them? I have copied a lot, but it looked like I had rolled myself up in a curtain. My best friend’s brother is a fashion designer. He explained the secrets of clothes selection to us, which made me realize how important it is to choose the appropriate clothing to maintain the vibe. The most common mistake by us is we all prefer the wrong type of jeans that messes up the entire attire theme. Lets start by getting to know your body by identifying which body type you are.

How To Measure

Bodytype
  1. Shoulders: Measure across the top of your shoulders, from edge to edge (this can be tricky if you use a mirror or ask for help).
  2. Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape level.
  3. Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your midsection, usually above the belly button.
  4. Hips: Measure around the widest part of your hips and butt, typically 7-9 inches below your waist.

Different Jeans For Every Body Type

The bust and hip measurements are nearly equal. However, the waist is smaller—at least 25% less than the hip measurements. The Shoulders align closely with the hips. High-waisted trouser leg jeans will bring the attention to your waist by balancing your hips and length to your legs.

Avoid: Low rise jeans that take the attention to the top. It created a muffin top effect.

2. Pear Body Type

Hips are broader than bust (by 2+ inches). Waist is smaller than hips but not as dramatically as an hourglass. Shoulders are narrower than hips. Boot cut jeans balances out wider hips by drawing attention downward and elongating the legs.

Avoid: Dark washes can slim the lower body. Don't go for super skinny jeans, they are the tapered style that emphasizes the thighs,

3. Apple Body Type

The bust and waist are similar, or the waist is larger (little definition). The hips are narrower than the waist. The shoulders might be broad or align with the bust. Mid-rise jeans avoid cutting into the stomach; they highlight your legs. Straight-leg jeans will highlight your legs without clinging too tightly. Boyfriend jeans offer a relaxed, flattering silhouette.

Avoid: High-waisted skinny jeans that might accentuate the midsection.

4. Rectangle Body Type

The bust, waist, and hips are all close in measurement (within 1-3 inches of each other). The waist has minimal definition, and the shoulders align with the hips. Low-rise flare jeans, create the illusion of curves, boyfriend jeans add volume, and flared jeans give shape to the lower body.

Avoid: Overly baggy styles that might drown your frame.

5. Petite Body Type

A body with a shorter frame, narrow shoulders, and a smaller bust complementing a shorter stature. The waist is often defined yet petite, blending smoothly into modestly proportioned hips. The frame remains delicate and compact, usually under 5'4" (162 cm). Mid rise slim leg jeans will support the shorter frame and make you look less petite.

Avoid: Wide legs or overly long jeans will make you look even shorter.

6. Tall Body Type

The longer torso and legs are proportionate in size. However, this proportion may vary from person to person, especially among athletes. Mid rise wide leg stretch jeans complement the long legs. Avoid pairing it with crop tops, go for covered stomach tops to rock the look.

Avoid: Cropped jeans will destroy your body proportion.

7. Athletic Body Type

The strong and toned body type with developed muscles. It features broader shoulders, a defined waist, and strong hips and legs. Height may vary but the body is proportionate. Mid rise slim bootcut jeans will help you camouflage your toned muscles and distribute the body weight perfectly.

Avoid: Super skinny jeans that will restrict your movement.
