Fashion icon Vera Wang surprised everyone at the 2025 Met Gala in New York with a bold new look that had guests and fans doing a double take. Known for her long, sleek hair, the 75-year-old designer stepped onto the red carpet rocking a shoulder-length bob with soft baby bangs, a total switch-up from her usual style.
Vera arrived in a floor-length white gown of her own design. The dress featured a deep neckline with dramatic black feathers around the top and a cascade of soft gray feathers flowing down the skirt. The overall look was elegant, edgy, and very Vera — just with a twist.

She paired the gown with black sunglasses, which she later took off during the evening. But it was her fresh hairstyle that truly caught everyone’s attention. It was a rare and refreshing change from her signature long hair, and it suited her perfectly.
Wang wasn’t the only one embracing a shorter style at the gala. Pamela Anderson also showed up in a sleek bob, fresh off the buzz around her new movie, The Last Showgirl. Both stars stood out not just because of their hair but because they each took a unique spin on the Met Gala theme: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
Once inside the venue, Vera posed with actor Keke Palmer who, by the way, also wore a custom piece designed by Wang. Keke’s look, a creative tuxedo-inspired gown, showed off Vera’s talent for blending structure and drama.

Vera’s appearance at this year’s event also sparked more conversation about how women evolve over time, both in style and mindset. In an interview with Elle last year, she opened up about how aging and expectations never slowed her down.
“I just hope people focus on my work, not my age,” she said. “We tend to put women in boxes, whether they’re young, pregnant, older, tall, whatever and I’ve always tried to push past that.”
She added that she’s never been overly focused on aging. “I’ve always put my energy into my work. That’s what’s kept me going and feeling challenged. In the end, I think your mindset matters more than anything else.”
From her standout dress to her brand-new hairstyle, Vera Wang reminded everyone at the Met Gala that style has no age limit — and change can be powerful.
